Teaching the Concept

The AHU ఒక central location నుండి entire floor కి serve చేస్తుంది. కానీ individual rooms — ఒక hotel bedroom, ఒక hospital patient room, ఒక private office cabin — కి individual temperature control అవసరం.

Cabin 301 occupant కి 22°C కావాలి. Cabin 302 occupant కి 26°C కావాలి. ఒక AHU supply temperature రెండింటినీ satisfy చేయలేదు.

The FCU — Fan Coil Unit — దీన్ని solve చేస్తుంది. ప్రతి individual room యొక్క ceiling void లేదా wall లో install చేయబడుతుంది. ఖచ్చితంగా రెండు parts ఉంటాయి:

FAN  +  COIL  =  FCU

The fan room air ని లోపలికి draw చేసి, conditioning తర్వాత మళ్ళీ బయటికి push చేస్తుంది.
The coil ద్వారా chilled water flow అవుతుంది — room air heat ని give up చేసి cool గా బయటికి వస్తుంది.

ప్రతి FCU కి BMS ద్వారా control చేయబడే దాని స్వంత chilled water valve ఉంటుంది. Room thermostat warm అని చెప్పినప్పుడు — valve opens, chilled water flows, room cools. Temperature setpoint కి చేరుకున్నప్పుడు — valve closes.

The AHU అనేది whole floor కోసం food prepare చేసే main kitchen. The FCU అనేది individual preference కోసం ప్రతి room లో ఉండే microwave.
