Workers, Supervisors, Management A company has workers doing the job, supervisors deciding for their area, and management seeing the whole picture. If management is away for a day, the workers still work. A BMS is structured in the same three levels, so a problem at the top does not stop the floor. Control is pushed down to where the plant is. The Three Tiers ``` MANAGEMENT LEVEL servers, front-end, integration, reporting AUTOMATION LEVEL DDC controllers running the logic (this is where control actually happens) FIELD LEVEL sensors + actuators on the plant ``` Why It Matters for Resilience ``` If MANAGEMENT is lost controllers keep running the plant If a CONTROLLER is lost only its zone is affected Distributed control = no single point takes the building down ``` Good architecture keeps control near the plant — so the building runs even when the top of the pyramid is offline.Related Topics
