The Human Body Your skin feels the heat, the nerves carry the message to your brain, the brain decides, and it tells your hand to switch on the fan. Sense, decide, act — in a second. A building is far too big for one person to do this in every room at once. So a BMS runs that same loop, everywhere, continuously. A BMS is a nervous system for the building. The BMS Loop ``` SENSE sensors read the field (temp, %RH, status, energy) DECIDE controller compares reading to setpoint, runs logic/PID ACT actuator moves (valve, damper, VFD, relay) REPORT values, trends and alarms to the front-end ``` One Air Handler, Live ``` Supply Air Temp = 16 C, Setpoint = 14 C -> error +2 -> controller opens cooling valve -> supply air falls toward 14 -> loop repeats -> a lasting deviation raises an alarm ``` A BMS gives a building a brain — so people supervise decisions instead of making every one by hand.Related Topics
