The Body's Five Parts Eyes and skin sense. The brain decides. Hands and legs act. Nerves carry the messages. The face shows the state to the world. Cut the nerves and the brain cannot reach the hands. A BMS is built from these same five parts. Every BMS reduces to five building blocks — everything else supports them. The Five Blocks ``` 1. SENSORS read conditions (temp, %RH, CO2, pressure) 2. CONTROLLERS run logic, PID, schedules (DDC) 3. ACTUATORS move plant (valves, dampers, VFDs, relays) 4. NETWORK the bus that connects them (BACnet/Modbus/IP) 5. FRONT-END software for monitoring, trends, alarms ``` How They Connect ``` SENSOR -> CONTROLLER -> ACTUATOR | NETWORK -> FRONT-END (operator view) ``` A BMS is only a system when all five are present — feel, think, act, connect, and see.Related Topics
