Smart Gadgets in a Wired House A well-wired house gains from smart gadgets only if they connect to the system. A smart plug living alone in its own app is just a gadget on a shelf. IoT in building automation is the same — valuable when it joins the control layer, wasted when it sits apart. Use IoT to complement control, not replace it, and give both a shared data model. How It Fits ``` BAS the control layer (runs the plant reliably) IoT extra sensors, cheap and connected, add data MODEL a shared structure (e.g. clean JSON / UDMI) so IoT data lands next to BAS data ``` Where It Helps, Where It Does Not ``` GOOD occupancy, air-quality, granular energy insight RISK controlling critical plant over consumer IoT RULE IoT complements control; it does not replace it ``` IoT makes a building see more — as long as it enriches the control layer rather than trying to become it.Related Topics
